Andrè Schuen & Julius Drake
For the second time, Heinrich Heine is the focus of a Lied und Lyrik program—and rightfully so, as his poems are among those most frequently set to music. Following works by Mendelssohn, Brahms, and Liszt heard in the previous concert in December 2022, pianist and series curator Julius Drake, baritone Andrè Schuen, and an actor now explore the famous Heine song cycles by Robert Schumann.
- Heinrich Heine - Excerpts from Lyrisches Intermezzo and other Poems, Reading in German
- Robert Schumann - Liederkreis on Poems by Heinrich Heine Op. 24
- Robert Schumann - Dichterliebe (Song Cycle on Poems by Heinrich Heine) Op. 48
- Robert Schumann - Other Selected Heine Settings
