The festival choir, founded especially for the 50th anniversary of the Lehnin Summer Music Festival, along with renowned soloists and the Ensemble Berlin Baroque, present G. F. Handel's oratorio Samson in the Lehnin Monastery Church.

The work was composed immediately after Messiah (concert on September 6, 1725) and combines Baroque drama with profound musical interpretation. Originally premiered in 1743, Samson quickly became one of Handel's most successful works and remains one of his most important compositions.

The oratorio tells the story of the end of the biblical hero Samson, the once mighty leader of Israel, who is betrayed and blinded by his lover. Imprisoned, he reflects on his fate before regaining his divine power. Trusting in God, he brings down the temple of his enemies and dies beneath the rubble. Sensitive arias and magnificent choruses accompany his inner struggle and celebrate his final heroic act.
