In her solo exhibition, Hua's Gigantic House, Chinese artist Hua Wang (*1990 in Urumqi) explores the tension between humanity, nature, and technological progress. Growing up in the urbanized desert city of Urumqi, her perception of nature was shaped early on by media and consumer culture – an experience she now reflects artistically.

The central point of departure is the allegorical figure of a 5,000-year-old tree, through whose perspective themes such as memory, cultural change, and ecological balance are explored. The exhibition combines sculptures, animations, and immersive installations into a poetic-dystopian overall picture that oscillates between myth, science fiction, and environmental critique.

Live performance:
On May 16, 2025, at 8 p.m., Bulgarian artist Ivo Dimchev will perform in the exhibition. With his expressive style, he explores physical and queer identities in the interplay of music, dance, and theater.

About the artist:
Hua Wang lives in Beijing and Berlin. She studied at Central Saint Martins in London and the Royal College of Art, among others. Her work explores the Anthropocene, consumer culture, and the friction between the natural world and artificial reality.
