Whether on or behind the stage: In the podcast "Kantinengespräche. Deep Talk mit Abak und Julischka" (Canteen Conversations. Deep Talk with Abak and Julischka), ensemble members Julischka Eichel and Abak Safaei-Rad meet the people who ensure that the curtain rises at the Deutsches Theater every day. Who are they? What motivates them, and what else do they do?
To mark International Women's Day 2026, a special edition of "Kantinengespräche" will take place:
For the very first time live and in front of an audience, Abak and Julischka will meet several female guests from various departments of the Deutsches Theater in the theater's bar to talk with them: What is it like to work as a woman in the theater? What is the state of gender equality, role models, and representation on and behind the stage? How can care work and art be reconciled? What knowledge, tips, and support can we share? Want to listen in?
International Women's Day at the Deutsches Theater: For more than 100 years, women have been fighting and striking on March 8th for their rights, visibility, and solidarity.
To kick off this year's International Women's Day on March 7th, a working group of female Deutsches Theater staff members has curated a feminist program. In the Box, the film *A Day Without Women* (2024) by Pamela Hogan about the historic women's strike in Iceland in 1975 will be screened.
Afterwards, Almut Zilcher will read texts by Nino Haratischwili in a joint event with the author. Julischka Eichel and Abak Safaei-Rad will host a live edition of their podcast *Kantinengespräche* (Canteen Conversations) in the bar, where they will discuss with guests from various departments of the Deutsches Theater: What is it like to work as a woman in the theater?
Afterwards, everyone is invited to celebrate the arrival of March 8th with DJ FRZNTE. All are welcome!
