A journey through nature and history

Hamburg-based adventurers and photographers Achill Moser and Aaron Moser have been undertaking adventurous expeditions all over the world for years. Now they have fulfilled a long-cherished dream. Together they hiked through the middle of Germany - from the North Sea to the Zugspitze. A distance of 1,600 kilometers in 87 days.

The father and son team hiked through six federal states, explored species-rich natural paradises, fantastic landscapes and picturesque towns; they experienced history and stories, lived through dramatic weather fronts, encountered wolves, herds of wild boar and foxes; they slept in tents, barns and guesthouses, encountered the ghosts of Germany's past, when barbed wire and walls divided the country in two. Joy and disappointment often went hand in hand. But all the emotional experiences and encounters not only conveyed the moods of everyday life in Germany, but also a new view of their own country and a feeling of home.

1.600 kilometers through a known, unknown Germany. What surprised the father and son team the most? - "We were overwhelmed by the number of new perspectives. Germany is a multifaceted and wonderful country to travel through, and we were thrilled."

And what was the best thing? - "Just setting off, experiencing things together and cheering each other up. The constant walking was an ideal alternative to the hectic pace of our everyday lives. Once again, we experienced something new: We need nature for our souls."
