Reading
The complete (new) translation of the legendary magazine La Révolution Surréaliste has now been published Its twelve issues appeared between 1924 and 1929 and are a key document of French and international surrealism. They show the beginnings, contradictions and further developments of this early chaotic phase of the movement.
The magazine contains famous surveys, manifestos and other texts, as well as many illustrations. Until now, there has been no German-language complete edition including the conceptually important illustrations.
After 100 years, it is time for a revision and rereading. Even today, the reception of surrealism in Germany remains strongly focused on the visual arts, right down to current exhibitions. In France, on the other hand, surrealism is and has always been perceived as a literary movement.
- With Milena Adam, Andreas Dimmler, Benjamin Dittmann-Bieber, Christian Driesen, Unda Hörner and Nora Sdun.
- Moderated by Alexander Gumz.
- For the eyes, there is a pop-up exhibition; for the ears, (un)surrealistic music by Louis d'Heudières.
