Arabic melodies, jazzy harmonies, meditative soundscapes, and free improvisations converge—borne by the idea of a shared origin.

What happens when music not only entertains but also opens us up—to something greater, timeless, and unifying? The concert program Together in One explores the mystical longing for the divine found in all great spiritual traditions—beyond denominations and dogmas.

Mechthild of Magdeburg and Rumi, Christian and Islamic mystics respectively, sought the experience of the All-One in remarkably similar ways. Their words—touching and timeless—serve as the inspiration and foundation for this musical and spiritual evening.

The five musicians weave music and mysticism, text and sound into a sensual and soulful experience. Arabic melodies, jazzy harmonies, meditative soundscapes, and free improvisations converge—borne by the idea of a shared origin.

Syrian nay player Mohamad Fityan, with his virtuosic and emotional playing, brings the quarter tones of Arabic music into dialogue with the other instruments. Christian Grosch makes the organ sound sometimes like a cathedral, sometimes like a jazz club – opening spaces between tradition and the present. Marcus Rust's trumpet sounds bring breadth, color, and expressive depth to the performance, while Alaa Zouiten's oud, with its warm, earthy sound, builds a bridge between East and West. And finally, Palestinian singer Eden Cami transforms words into sounds with her voice – praying, lamenting, loving. Together they create a soundscape that transcends boundaries – musically and spiritually.

An evening that invites reflection on what truly matters: what connects people.
