Once again, the Komische Oper Berlin is transforming Neukölln into a vibrant 'pleasure ground' with the Schall & Rausch festival, which seeks exciting symbioses of pop and high culture, spirituality and artificiality.

From 12 to 15 February 2026, the festival will celebrate the arrival of spring with an intoxicating fantasy of opulence. In collaboration with the Neuköllner Oper, the programme will celebrate the triumph of the new over the old, connecting the Berlin club scene with global perspectives and social rituals.

Schall&Rausch 2026

The 2026 edition of Schall&Rausch will feature the world premiere of the chamber opera Selemo, in which South African composers Sbusiso Shozi and Nhlanhla Mahlangu offer a fresh take on spring. Through body, sound and voice, they explore the power of transformation and an ancient promise of prosperity that transcends geographical boundaries.

In the symphony concert Cave Meets Schubert, Nick Cave's album Tender Prey meets Franz Schubert's Winterreise. Conducted by James Gaffigan, the Komische Oper Berlin orchestra combines the night-black death wish of post-punk with the romantic world-weariness of the nineteenth century.

On Valentine's Day, drag performer Meo Wulf invites you to the 'Queen of Love' event at CANK. In this glamorous and cheeky show, musical declarations of love and unrestrained lip-syncing come together, and the empty department store is transformed into a staircase for lovers.
