works for synthesizer trio performed by Lange//Berweck//Lorenz
‘we are all connected and we love you’ is the title of Eloain Lovis Hübner's new piece for Lange//Berweck//Lorenz. This radical willingness to love becomes audible in combination with pieces by Lula Romero, Florian Zwißler, Ernstalbrecht Stiebler and Asmus Tietchens.
The synthesizer trio Lange//Berweck//Lorenz has a long history of collaboration with Eloain Lovis Hübner. Eloain Lovis Hübner responds precisely to performers and audiences with a wide range of styles and is experienced in synthesizers and effects devices. For Eloain Lovis Hübner, electronics are a natural part of the instrumentation – an attitude that has elevated the collaboration to a special level from the very beginning.
By combining works by Asmus Tietchens, Lula Romero, Florian Zwißler and Ernstalbrecht Stiebler, some of which have been long lost or are being performed in Berlin for the first time, the evening deliberately presents a wide aesthetic range under the subversive motto ‘subtle hacking’. Lange//Berweck//Lorenz thus give the audience a space that also makes subtleties audible.

---Lange//Berweck//Lorenz is a Berlin-based trio for electroacoustic music. Since its founding in 2014, the collective has been dedicated to realising electronic scores, restoring and (re)performing historical works, and collaborating with contemporary composers on new pieces. Today, Silke Lange, Sebastian Berweck, and Martin Lorenz present themselves as a trio on stage with a laboratory of analogue and digital synthesizers and machines; the live performance on the instruments is enhanced by video and lighting design.
Lula Romero has been composing electroacoustic music since the beginning of her career and has worked in studios such as the ZKM Karlsruhe and the SWR Experimental Studio. She collaborates closely with Martin Lorenz, which has now resulted in a concrete work with the entire trio. For her piece, Lula Romero has chosen a text by Walt Whitman that takes a similarly queer direction as the text in Eloain's work.
Florian Zwißler is a leading figure in Cologne's electroacoustic music scene and himself performs on a collection of historical analogue instruments and in a synthesiser ensemble.
Ernstalbrecht Stiebler, who passed away about a year ago, was not only known for his late works for acoustic instruments, but was also a pioneer of electroacoustic music. In 1977, he wrote repetitions for synthesizer ensemble, which premiered at the ORF's Musikprotokoll and has not been performed since. After a long search, Lange//Berweck//Lorenz finally obtained the sheet music from the estate administrator Hauke Harder.
Asmus Tietchens is the grand old man of Hanseatic chamber electronics.
