“Words Connect” is more than just the title of the writing workshop – it is our guiding principle. In March, on the occasion of International Women's Day, our focus will be on thoughts, inspirations and family memories relating to women´s perspective on flight and expulsion.

Together, the participants will explore the permanent exhibition and focus on the experiences of daughters, mothers and grandmothers, as well as single women and girls. Flight involves many dangers – for everyone. At the same time, however, women have faced, and continue to face, particularly high risks. How did they experience leaving their homeland, the long journey into uncertainty and the hope of arrival? And what is life like for women in their new home, whether or not they are responsible for a family?

The participants give stories that have been told, remembered and experienced the opportunity to take root on paper and bear fruit. Even today, war, flight and the search for a new home unfortunately remain a reality for many people – they create space for their thoughts, (collective) memories and hopes and use the creative power of writing to turn words into bridges. The writing workshop invites anyone who enjoys experimenting with words and language to participate. They provide inspiration and welcome inspiration from others. Writing together becomes a dialogue in which You can all learn from each other and share with each other.
