The Woka Kuma Festival represents both modern and traditional music, art and culture from Burkina Faso. The event has the motto "Traditional music and current pop culture from West Africa - bridging the gap between generations".
The up-and-coming newcomer to the pop and rap scene, Faity Baby from Bobo-Dioulasso, secured the prestigious "Bobo Lolo" award in May 2023, the highest musical award in the region. Now he is presenting his music to a German audience for the first time.
Guest of honor Angelina Akpovo, singer, composer and dancer from Benin, has been living in Hamburg for a long time and launched the Alafia Africa Festival there. With her music, which includes traditional Afrobeat and soul elements, as well as her impressive dance skills, she has built a successful musical career over the years.
Madame Akpovo opens the festival with a film highlighting the theme "African women: between tradition and liberation". Afterwards, everyone is cordially invited to take part in discussions and exchange ideas.
