Workshop, 35 years East Side Gallery
On September 28th, the East Side Gallery turns 35! Much has changed since 1990: the city and its people, the sections of the Wall, and the paintings.
Through 35 years of wind and weather, political and technological changes, and the restoration of the sections of the Wall, the world's longest open-air gallery continues to transform. But what will happen in the future?
To mark the anniversary, the Berlin Wall Foundation is launching an initiative to preserve the memorial.
- How can the concrete and paint be preserved in the long term?
- How much of the original should be preserved, and would changes to the memorial be possible in the interests of preservation?
- Can art in public space be everlasting?
- How do you envision the future of the East Side Gallery?
Interested parties are invited to join the discussion and vote on the next steps in a participatory program.
