URUBUS, a book of short stories by the Berlin-based Brazilian writer Carla Bessa, will be reinterpreted performatively and musically on the stage of the Acker Stadt Palast: without visuals.

Urubus was the grand prize winner of the 2020 Jabuti Prize (Brazil's highest literary prize) and now inspired the creation of the dance theatre piece of the same name. In Portuguese, the title refers to vultures, in the Brazilian context - Urubus - to a bird of prey that feeds on waste and carrion.

Designed especially for audiences with visual impairments, the performance is dedicated to the sensations that the presence of the dancers, costumes, objects and their sound evoke in the audience. The soundscape of the piece creates a hypnotic atmosphere that can be felt.
