On Provenance Research Day, this walking tour leads you through the heart of Berlin, exploring historical sites and objects.
Join provenance researchers from the Berlin City Museum as they uncover the sometimes enigmatic trails of museum treasures! For example, how did French opulent furniture find its way into the Märkisches Museum?
Provenance research is dedicated to tracing and clarifying the origins of objects. Researchers from the Berlin City Museum will recount the construction and renovation of the Reichsbank building and the fate of the furniture it housed during the war and in the GDR. They will also take you on a mental journey to Paris during the German occupation (1940–1944) and to a French country estate.
