She's back: the 90s urban angel, the postmodern diva, arguably the most fabulous icon of New German Chanson, the mother of cabaret, is making a guest appearance at the BAR JEDER VERNUNFT.
Her last CD, "liebe mich" (love me), was released in 2008. Afterward, she immersed herself in the world of cultural education, helped launch the Street College, and guided young people in finding their voices and discovering themselves.
Today, she returns to poetic expression, to whatever comes her way and finds her, whether in painting, word painting, or poetry. So, she didn't hesitate when her longtime musical companions, Florian Grupp and Peter Ehrlichmann, asked, "Shall we get together again?"
On June 7th, they will take their audience on a journey through her timeless chansons.
Tanja Ries seeks connection: the feeling of not being alone with one's emotions. In her devotion to the moment, she bestows courage, solace, and transformation. Melancholy and brittle, fragile and clear, stirring and gentle.
What Tanja Ries delivers are not stories, but moods enveloped in color. Of waiting and that special someone, of endings, running, weights, and Cadillacs. Even in the greatest happiness of love, a touch of pain remains—and if everyone is lucky, there might even be a little absurd story or whirlwind of thoughts thrown in.
