Ibn Rushd Lecture with Shadia Abdelmoneim and Ibrahim Khattab
In light of the profound political upheavals in Sudan and the associated political, economic, and military challenges, the Ibn Rushd Fund invites you to a discussion event.
This event will examine the roots of the current Sudanese crisis, shed light on the prospects for democratic change, and explore the possibilities for building a sustainable civil state.
Economist and feminist Shadia Abdelmoneim and physician and political activist Dr. Ibrahim Khattab offer an analytical reading of the historical and social context surrounding the emergence of the Sudanese military institution.
They examine the production relations and class alliances that have contributed to its position of power—an attempt to understand the dynamics and structural challenges of the modern Sudanese state.
In addition, Shadia Abdelmoneim will address the humanitarian dimensions of the current crisis and its catastrophic impact on the civilian population—especially women and vulnerable groups—against the backdrop of ongoing armed conflict and worsening living conditions.
The event will be held in Arabic and admission is free.
