First event in the series "Thinking about freedom today"
Thinking about freedom today. Freedom is the foundation of our democracy – and at the same time a contested commodity. Political radicalization, economic dependence, and the growing power of digital platforms raise new questions:
How can social freedom be secured when fundamental democratic values are challenged? What rules does a free economy need to ensure fair competition while simultaneously assuming responsibility? And where are the limits of freedom of expression online when private companies dominate communication spaces?
This series of events addresses these areas of tension, makes them visible, opens up space for critical reflection, and invites us to rethink freedom today – as a contribution to democratic discourse in an open, pluralistic society.
