BOOKMARK – live in Tegel
One evening – two readings! (in German).
‘Grass’:
The catastrophe begins on Bundesplatz in Berlin-Wilmersdorf. Natalie, a budding biologist, discovers delicate blades of grass growing in cracks in the pavement. The grass spreads rapidly, taking over neighbourhoods and damaging infrastructure. It is resistant to herbicides. A race against time begins. In this Berlin novel, Bernhard Kegel tells a story of disaster and hope.
‘Saving the world with plants’:
The Earth is heating up at an enormous rate. Bernhard Kegel shows technical and biological ways to stop this development. It is not enough to reduce emissions; CO2 must be removed from the atmosphere and stored in a climate-neutral way. Photosynthesis also offers solutions. Together with light, it could help to preserve life.
Bernhard Kegel, born in 1953, studied chemistry and biology at the Free University of Berlin, then worked as a researcher, ecological consultant and lecturer. Since 1993, he has published numerous novels and non-fiction books. His books have been awarded several journalism prizes.
