Amaurote

Discover French contemporary art in Berlin. ‘Amaurote’ is the second solo exhibition by artist Quentin Lefranc (born 1987) at Galerie Gilla Lörcher.

The artist's works were recently added to the collections of the Centre Pompidou and the Museum Grenoble.

In his current exhibition, the artist explores the motif of the pedestal, highlighting its frequent use as a stylistic device in the grammar of exhibitions, its history and meanings. From an art history perspective, the pedestal is much more than just a platform for sculptures and objects.

Its meaning has changed over the centuries and is constantly being reinterpreted and questioned by artists. The pedestal subject is multi-layered and encompasses functional, aesthetic and conceptual aspects. The pedestal can significantly influence the presentation and perception of a work of art and even become part of the artistic statement itself.

Quentin Lefranc (*1987) lives and works in Paris (France). He received diplomas from the Art School in Rueil-Malmaison (2011) and the School of Arts Décoratifs in Paris (2013).
