It has been so bitterly cold for days that Pettersson and Findus don't want to leave the house. As soon as it gets a little warmer, Pettersson sprains his foot and can no longer walk.

Now Findus is in great distress: how will the two of them get to a Christmas tree? Where will he get meatballs, stockfish and gingerbread? But on Christmas Eve, a wonderful Christmas surprise awaits the old man and his cat.
In the productions performed by the Berlin Puppet Theatre, the characters are of course spoken live, so that the children are involved in the action and there is a continuous dialogue with the young audience.
