Turning Point represents rupture, change, and revolution—visible in the bedrock and the cracks in the Earth's crust. Humans are experiencing a profound transformation: mentally, physically, and accelerated by climate change.
But every turning point also holds an opportunity—humans are now deciding the direction of this change.
Finnish artists Petra Kallio and Taru Salonen from Turku work with traditional printmaking techniques, utilizing the three-dimensionality of various materials.
In the exhibition "Turning Point" at the Pleiku Gallery, they reflect on the relationship between humanity and nature in the context of climate change from different perspectives, with a particular focus on ice and snow.
Petra Kallio combines personal and universal imagery, inspired by Arctic nature, into graphic installations that invite the public to engage with climate change.
Taru Salonen explores environmental grief: In her woodcuts and lithographs, she addresses the disappearance of snow and ice, conveying both the collective and individual sorrow over the loss of nature.
