The St. Laurentius Choir of Köpenick and the Concertino Berlin Orchestra, conducted by Janis Pelmanis, present: G.B. Pergolesi Stabat Mater and J.S. Bach JESUS, MY JOY

Two works will be performed: First, G. B. Pergolesi's Stabat Mater focuses on the maternal suffering of Mary, lending the Passion a profoundly human, embodied perspective.

Contrasting with this is S. J. Bach's motet Jesús, Meine Freude (Jesus, My Joy), which, rooted in Lutheran theology, unfolds comfort, trust, and spiritual certainty. In this deliberate contrast, Catholic and Protestant piety meet as distinct yet complementary interpretations of Christ's suffering. Thus, an ecumenical dialogue emerges, in which lament and hope, closeness and transcendence enter into conversation with one another.
