Literary interventions
Nobody asks about the shoes, writes Daryna Gladun to Asal Dardan. In their exchange of letters in the Weiter Schreiben program, they talk about objects that have gained great, even unexpected significance for them, in one case through flight, in the other through their parents' migration.
The authors of the literary interventions in the Werkbundarchiv - Museum of Things, Awadalla (Egypt), Zmicier Vishniou (Belarus) and Mahtab Yaghma (Iran), have had individual experiences of how life in exile changes the view - including the view of individual objects.
In the run-up to the literary interventions, they familiarized themselves with the collection of the Werkbundarchiv - Museum of Things and were inspired by individual or even several objects and wrote about them - personally, essayistically, poetically. During the literary interventions, which are performed directly in the exhibition space, text and object enter into a conversation, transform each other and appear in a new light.
The texts will be heard in the original and in German translation, accompanied by a musical contribution.
The literary interventions are a project of Weiter Schreiben. Weiter Schreiben is a literary platform for authors from war and crisis zones. Since 2017, we have been translating, illustrating and publishing poetry and prose on our online portal, primarily from Arabic and Persian. A new text is published every two weeks.
