On 31 December 2025, Concerto Brandenburg will hold its traditional New Year's Eve gala concert at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.
Under the artistic direction of Christian-Friedrich Dallmann, the programme will feature works by Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, whose personal and professional relationship will provide the contextual framework.
The concert will open with two symphonies from 1772: Mozart's Symphony in A major, K. 134, and Haydn's Symphony No. 46 in B major. Both pieces will be performed on historical instruments with historically informed performance practice. The concert will conclude with Haydn's Piano Concerto No. 11 in D major, performed by Sebastian Heindl on the fortepiano, which will create a unique listening experience with its special sound.
With:
- Concerto Brandenburg on historical instruments
- Sebastian Heindl, fortepiano
- Christian-Friedrich Dallmann, artistic director
Concerto Brandenburg is one of the most prominent ensembles on Berlin's historically oriented music scene, focusing on European pre-Classical music and the rediscovery of Baroque composers of the Berlin School. With its ever-changing line-ups and programme of stylistic diversity, the ensemble has been an integral part of Berlin's cultural landscape since its foundation in 1998.
The New Year's Eve concerts offer a regular opportunity to experience historical sound aesthetics in the architecturally and historically striking Gedächtniskirche space – providing an acoustic end to the year with a deliberate focus on repertoire selection, work context, and tonal authenticity.
