At the turn of the year 2025, Concerto Brandenburg invites you to a New Year's Eve concert at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.
Under the direction of Christian Friedrich Dallmann, the program begins with two symphonies from 1772: Mozart's Symphony in A major, composed when he was just 16 years old, is characterized by youthful freshness and Italian influence. Haydn's Symphony No. 46 in B major, on the other hand, with its expressive twists and original dramaturgy, showcases the full range of his mature work as Kapellmeister at the Esterházy court.
The brilliant finale is Haydn's Piano Concerto No. 11 in D major – the best-known of his piano concertos and a work full of charm, virtuosity, and melodic refinement. Inspired by Mozart's contemporaneous works, Haydn wrote this concerto for the fortepiano, which was newly developed at the time and will be authentically showcased in the concert with Sebastian Heindl as soloist on a period instrument (built around 1815).
Sebastian Heindl, organist and church musician at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church since 2023, is a multi-award-winning keyboard virtuoso. He combines technical brilliance with a keen sense of historical performance practice – the ideal prerequisites for a musically and emotionally moving end to the year.
