Whether in loud capital letters, a wild typo mix, dancing curves or expressive handwriting - letters are a central design element in theater posters. Used in different sizes, colors and shapes, they convey an impression of the type and mood of the play being advertised. Font can also contain narrative aspects that reflect the plot of the play.
On February 5, interested parties can once again get up close! to original posters:
In a discussion, graphic designer Anna Bühler (Neue Gestaltung, Berlin) and art historian Christina Thomson (Graphic Design Collection, Art Library) analyze theater advertising from twelve decades in terms of its typographic component.
Admission and participation free of charge.
