The Amsterdam indie rock quartet Loupe will be stopping off in Berlin on their tour of Germany. Songs from their upcoming EP can be heard at Kulturhaus Insel.

Loupe's music explores themes of young adolescence, life in the big city and human relationships in a web of sweeping harmonies, free-flowing rhythms and expressive vocals. The band succeeds in developing a sound that is both exciting and hypnotising.

Loupe are

  • Julia Korthouwer (vocals, keyboard - she/her),
  • Jasmine van der Waals (they/them),
  • Lana Kooper (bass - she/her)
  • and Annemarie van der Born (drums - they/them).

Their debut album "Do You Ever Wonder What Comes Next?" is about finding something to hold on to in the midst of all the hustle and bustle. It's about finding ways to deal with physical and mental pressure. It's about coming to terms with new environments and situations and categorising the many new impressions and impulses.

Loupe's band sound is impulsive, exciting and fluid, somewhere between synth-pop, folk and indie rock. The gentle, aerodynamic grooves of Annemarie, the melodic bass lines of Lana and the dynamic, virtuoso playing of Jasmine together form a kind of secret language. What drives Loupe's music is the "What's next?" in the big question posed by the album title; the constant movement to chase that silver lining beyond the horizon: ceaselessly in search of courage, solace and adventure in the restless now.
