125 years of the Niederbarnim Railway (NEB)

Hop on board for a train journey back in time. From Berlin-Wilhelmsruh, you’ll travel on a hydrogen-powered train to Basdorf and the Heidekrautbahn Museum. After a guided tour of the museum and refreshments provided by the Berliner Eisenbahnfreunde e. V., the special train will return.

The Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn (NEB) looks back on 125 years of eventful history – from the Wilhelminian era through the industrial boom, wars and the division of Berlin to today’s vital transport infrastructure. The Heidekrautbahn is the centrepiece of the line, which has been connecting goods, ideas and people since 1901.

Since the end of 2024, seven trains from the Mireo Plus H series have been operating as the first hydrogen-powered trains through the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan region.
