Do you enjoy being creative? Want to learn more about Islamic art? Are you interested in geometric shapes and how they are created with straw? Then you've come to the right place!

Immerse yourself in another chapter of Islamic art. Together, participants will explore the principles of geometric patterns and discover how an octagonal star is designed. We will then recreate the star or other patterns using dyed straw.

Using examples from Islamic art history, they will learn the traditional techniques for cutting and arranging straw.

The artist and educator Ghaidaa Kotb will lead the workshop.
After the workshop, participants can take their own work home.

The workshop is open to people of all ages (15 years and older).

The workshop is part of a series offered by the Museum of Islamic Art. One session will be held monthly.
