Where the sound of turbines once echoed, kites now flutter in the sky. Wild herbs are transformed into lemonade. The sun brings images to life on the asphalt. Maps become stories of paths, encounters, and possibilities. Greenery breaks through cracks in the ground. People are taking action, gathering, and organizing to shape the future together.

The project seminar “Hazardous Hope.

Rambles Through Contaminated Berlin” in the MA in Cultural Studies program at Humboldt University in Berlin, in collaboration with Dr. Léa Perraudin and with the participation of Berlin-based artist Monika Dorniak.

Building on a concept of hope that opens up new perspectives when dealing with contaminated environments, the students’ work traces the material layers, current uses, and open questions about the future of Tempelhofer Feld.

Visitors are also invited to discover the results of these creative processes—for example, through movement, listening, observation, and taste.

The free program of events includes both activities taking place directly on Tempelhofer Feld as well as exhibition formats and presentations on the grounds of the Floating University Berlin.

In the evening, the program will be complemented by a discussion with freelance curator Tuçe Erel and the 100% Tempelhofer Feld initiative, both of whom are actively shaping the discourse surrounding Tempelhofer Feld.

The event is conceived as an open space for experiential exploration through research-based practice. Our aim is to encourage participants to reinterpret Tempelhofer Feld and to think about its future together—especially in the context of the ongoing debate about its future development.

The students are looking forward to a day full of shared explorations across Tempelhofer Feld and through the thematic worlds associated with this unique urban space!

For logistical and planning purposes, please register by July 12. You can also use the registration form to indicate any individual access or support needs.

The individual program events take place independently of one another and can be attended flexibly.
