Film Program Christoph Hochhäusler

In conjunction with the Christoph Hochhäusler exhibition at the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.), the Arsenal cinema is presenting a retrospective of all the filmmaker’s films.

His stories consistently revolve around lies and intrigue, manipulation and deception. They depict fraud, betrayal, and desire, and are staged in a style reminiscent of genre cinema (film noir, crime thrillers, political thrillers).

Hochhäusler’s cinema, set against the backdrop of financial capitalism, politics, media, and new technologies, gives form to the present and its complex systems.

• The film series is curated by Birgit Kohler (Program Director, Arsenal Film Institute, Berlin).
