The Festtage delights classical music fans every year around Easter time with newly staged classical concerts and opera performances. Under the direction of star conductor Daniel Barenboim, newly staged classics and premieres are presented. For this purpose, international music stars of the classical scene are regularly brought to the German capital.

Born in Buenos Aires in 1942, Daniel Barenboim has been General Music Director of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden since 1992. In 2000, he was elected "conductor for life" by the orchestra. Founded in the late 16th century, the Staatskapelle Berlin is one of the oldest orchestras in the world. Founded in 1742 as the Kurbrandenburgische Hofkapelle and further developed as the Königlich Preußische Hofkapelle, the ensemble has been firmly associated with the opera house Unter den Linden.
At the 2023 Festival, the Staatskapelle Berlin, conducted by Daniel Barenboim, will perform Ludwig van Beethoven: Missa solemnis in D major, op. 123.
