Series of Discussions Widerständiges Feiern II, curated by Fabienne Mahwane
In this panel, Djamal Okoko, Kumi More, and Lahya Aukongo discuss possibilities for organizing intersectional celebrations. Djamal Okoko is a product design student with a research focus on the intersection of design and disability studies; Kumi More is an author and performer; and Lahya Aukongo contributes, among other things, her expertise as an artist and activist.
Together, they explore how rest and joy—spaces for celebration and recovery—can be made accessible to every body. The panel will be moderated by Jul Kolberg, a political educator specializing in racism, disability, and queerness.
For the seventh edition of the Black Berlin Black festival, under the motto "Festivity," Fabienne Mahwane, a lawyer, moderator, and speaker, has conceived a series of discussions with numerous guests. In this, they explore the political implications of celebration: what is celebrated and what should be celebrated, who is allowed to celebrate and who celebrates anyway, when do people celebrate and when should they celebrate, and how should they celebrate if they strive for transformative justice?
