The Long Night of Science at the Humboldt Forum
After the Oscar-nominated documentary “I Am Not Your Negro,” Raoul Peck has presented a cinematic document that is as multi-layered as it is much discussed: “Rottet die Bestien aus! Starting with the injustice of the colonial powers, he exposes the ideology of white supremacy that is still deeply embedded in us today.
The four-part ARTE series paints an unsparing picture of European colonialism. From the genocide of the American First Nations to the trade with enslaved people to the Shoah: a film essay, across 600 years of history, a journey into the heart of darkness. Personal, fast-paced, evocative.
As part of the Long Night of the Sciences, the Humboldt Forum, in cooperation with ARTE and the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, will show all four one-hour parts of the series on one evening. The film series will be contextualized and discussed by experts in keynote lectures and talks.
