Afro-German art historian Tanja-Bianca Schmidt looks at the traces of black art in the current exhibition Ich weiß, dass ich mich verdoppeln kann. Gisèle Vienne and the Puppets of the Avant-Garde.
In dialogue with participants, she will talk about the depictions of Black bodies in the works of the avant-garde, about the problem of the appropriation of African visual languages by the West and the subsequent racist treatment of them. The exchange with the visitors is stimulated by methods of art education.
Tanja-Bianca Schmidt is a freelance curator and art historian specialising in Black Identity, aesthetics of migration and methods of art historiography critical of racism.
