In his chanson evening Nightshade, Enno Kraus, winner of the Giesinger Culture Prize 2022, lures the audience into the blissfully eerie whirlpool of the night.

On his nocturnal forays, both singing and commenting, he highlights human absurdities and hidden magic that he uncovers in shady alleys, rustling forests and feverish dreams.

In collaboration with the pianist Lidia Kalendareva, he interprets his own compositions and songs by Kurt Weill, Friedrich Hollaender, Johannes Brahms, Zarah Leander, Marlene Dietrich and others - always somnambulistically balancing on the thin line between light-footed seriousness and ruthless mischief.
