Duo Hübner-Schönfelder

The duo uses cello and piano in a modern and diverse way. Their program moves from expansive soundscapes to transcendental moments while remaining rhythmically engaging, playful, and experimental in composition and execution.


Falk Schönfelder has been active as a pianist in many different bands for years, from larger rock bands to small chamber music ensembles. Matthias Hübner has developed his own sonic language over years of intensive concert activity. The special aspect of his music is the unique use of the cello. With its captivating sound, it evokes the human voice. “In doing so, the musician lets it not only sing, but also sob, scream, grunt, and cry.”
