After a long absence, Christian returns home to attend his father's wedding to the much younger Anna. On this occasion, he reunites with his childhood friend Oliver, who now has a family of his own with his wife Charlotte and young daughter Hedvig.
By chance, one day Christian stumbles upon a long-kept, scandalous family secret. When he tells Oliver the bitter truth, tragedy ensues.
