The film depicts the famous love story by director Ulrich Plenzdorf. In this DEFA classic, shot in the streets around the FMP1, Paula, a single mother, longs for true love. Paul is a conformist government official in a loveless marriage. After they meet, they fall passionately in love. But Paul hesitates, fearing for his career. Only after a tragic turn of events does he fight for Paula.
