Cöpenick Anniversary Ball

It was October 16, 1906, when shoemaker Wilhelm Voigt—dressed as a captain and accompanied by a handful of “obedient” soldiers—stormed into Köpenick City Hall. With nothing but a borrowed uniform and some acting talent, he managed to arrest Mayor Langerhans and demand the city’s treasury.

Although he didn’t find a passport inside, his audacity made him world-famous: He went down in history as the “Captain of Köpenick,” and his story is reenacted to this day in the town hall courtyard—one of the region’s most popular attractions.

To mark the 120th anniversary of this legendary coup, you are cordially invited to a festive ball—at the original historic site, in the council chamber of Köpenick Town Hall.

What to Expect

A venue steeped in history: Celebrate where it all began in 1906—in the venerable council chamber of Köpenick City Hall, Alt-Köpenick 21.

Culinary Delights: Berlin specialties served on a platter will satisfy your appetite.

Music & Entertainment: The Köpenick Spiked Helmet Orchestra will provide dance music. Numerous Köpenick locals and artists have been invited—be prepared for a few surprises throughout the evening.

Dress to Impress: Those who arrive in historically adapted ball attire will contribute to the evening’s visual delight—true to the spirit of an era when a cobbler could pass himself off as a captain.

The Event

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Tickets cost €49 per person.

Important note: Ball tickets are available exclusively in person at the Berlin Treptow-Köpenick Tourist Information Office—online sales are not available. Since seating is limited, we recommend arriving early.
