Skate footage spanning 30 years and a wealth of interviews with influential figures from the skate scene – with *Asphaltsurfer*, Marco Tremiliti and Stefan Schorer bring the most important eras and developments in German skateboarding to the screen in a condensed form.

How is skateboarding defined in Germany? It is the fascinating story of dynamic change, of emergence and breakthrough, of heterogeneity and the resulting diversity.

*Asphaltsurfer* rewinds to the beginnings of the 1970s freestyle contests – which now seem almost grotesque – races through the punk rock ’80s with half-pipe attitude, and documents the dramatic generational shift of the 1990s and the great commercial wave. *Asphaltsurfer* hits the mark right in the heart of every skater!

*Asphaltsurfer* is the story of German skateboarding.

Stefan Schorer was born in Filderstadt in 1979 and has been skateboarding for more than 20 years. He completed his degree in Media and Information Studies in Offenburg with ‘Asphaltsurfer’ as his graduation film. It is Schorer’s debut film. Stefan Schorer has been living and working in Stuttgart since 2009.

The film is dedicated to Marco Tremiliti. He was born in Heidelberg in 1983. He studied Media and Information Studies in Offenburg. Tragically, he was unable to complete his graduation film, ‘Asphaltsurfer’, himself. In August 2008, Marco Tremiliti died as a result of a serious skateboarding accident.
