Evelyn Bauer – Painting

Evelyn Bauer, an artist who places everyday motifs such as vessels, animals, or figures in new, unusual contexts, invites viewers into a mysterious world. Her works, which combine transience with structure, reflect a multi-layered and ambivalent attitude towards art and life.

Bauer's detailed and meticulous painting moves within the discreet secrecy of the obvious. Her works balance on the precipices of the soul and offer a poetic, delicate experience that inspires her to paint.

Female figures, often from nude drawings, are placed in different environments, clothed or depicted as transparent beings in rooms, expressing the permeable, ephemeral and transitory.

The bizarre and absurd in Bauer's paintings come together to form a harmonious pictorial narrative. Her paintings, which consist of solid matter, capture what moves us and pass it on. This harmony of ambivalences has a profound meaning for Bauer in her attitude towards art and people. Her mysterious paintings contain enigmas and invite us on a journey into the secrets of everyday life.

Evelyn Bauer, born in Berlin in 1953, studied at the Berlin University of the Arts from 1972 to 1977. She is a master student of Prof. Klaus Fußmann.
