To mark the "100 years of the Berlin S-Bahn" anniversary, the small special exhibition "Better, faster, electric!" is showing one of the oldest surviving S-Bahn carriages from 1924, as well as other exhibits and display boards in the historic locomotive shed 2.

On Saturday 10 August, an S-Bahn carriage from 1928 can also be viewed from the inside on the occasion of the anniversary weekend.

The German Museum of Technology is currently reconstructing a "Bernau" carriage from 1924, restoring the best-preserved EB 169 015a trailer carriage, which will then be the only complete vehicle of the "Bernau" type. The extensive work includes the restoration of the interior in the modernised form that the carriage received in 1958.

At the end of the special exhibition, the S-Bahn carriage from the original series will be on display in the second section of the new permanent railway exhibition, representing the beginnings of the Berlin S-Bahn. The restoration project to mark the anniversary was made possible by funding from the state of Berlin.
