In the historic centre of Berlin, you can easily trace where it once stood: the Berlin Wall, a world-famous symbol of the division of Berlin, but also a symbol of the division of Germany and the Cold War. It is marked by a double row of cobblestones in the streets over a length of 5.7 kilometres. Throughout Berlin, you can also see the remains of the Wall and moving, fascinating memorial sites. Whether at the East Side Gallery, Potsdamer Platz or Bernauer Strasse: memorials, remains of the Wall, former border watchtowers and information boards with photographs and texts provide vivid impressions and historical information.
Numerous exhibitions and events in the city also offer you deep insights into the history and background of the Berlin Wall. You can find the current events here.
