Discover new materials from research and test them yourself
What are the materials of the future made of? And what role does lignin play in this? In this workshop, you’ll gain an insight into the world of biopolymers and have the opportunity to be the first to test innovative materials based on lignin – an underrated industrial by-product of wood processing – and turn them into your own products.

Following a brief introduction to the importance of lignin as a key building block for the future and a presentation of the materials developed, you’ll have the chance to turn them into products using a 3D printer or with needle and thread. You’ll receive guidance and instruction directly from the developers themselves. The products created during the workshop can be taken home afterwards.

Workshop leaders
The workshop will be led by members of the interdisciplinary research project LignoLight. Participants include: Esther Kaya Stögerer and Jannis Kempkens from the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin, Steven Eschig from the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research WKI, Christin Zimmer from Lignopure, and Sönke Detjen from CompriseTec.
LignoLight is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE).
