Klangwerkstatt Berlin 2026

With *The Periodic Table*, ensemble mosaik launched a large-scale, long-term project in early 2026 dedicated to the 118 chemical elements known to date. Inspired by Dmitri Mendeleev’s visionary classification of the elements, a musical archive of the substances that make up our world is being created over many years.

At the Klangwerkstatt Berlin, the ensemble will present three world premieres. Maja Bosnić turns her attention to lithium and the protests against the mining of rare raw materials in Serbia. Jessie Marino explores the element caesium. Manuel Rodríguez Valenzuela has written a piece about the element lead for solo violin and eight microtonal monochords.

The concert brings together scientific, sonic, political and social perspectives and opens up a space for questioning how we organise, understand and shape the world.
