Works for Cello and Piano by Mendelssohn, Schumann, and Schnittke

*From Eastern Europe* is the title of the highly acclaimed latest album by Marie-Elisabeth Hecker and Martin Helmchen, on which they perform, among other works, Alfred Schnittke’s First Cello Sonata.

With this work, the duo—based near Berlin—is now making its debut at the Pierre Boulez Saal. Rarely heard compositions by Beethoven and Schumann, as well as Mendelssohn’s Second Cello Sonata, round out the program.
