With Bach's "Awake, the voice calls us," "Now come, the Savior of the Gentiles," "Sheep can safely graze," and "Now rejoice, dear Christians," Satie's "3 Gymnopédies" and "6 Gnossiennes," as well as Debussy's "L'isle joyeuse" (Isle of Joy), the program spans a range from contemplative tranquility to floating melancholy to sonic ecstasy.



Pianist and conductor Ya-ou Xie was born in Guizhou, a southwestern province of China. As a soloist, she has performed with renowned orchestras such as the China National Orchestra, the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, and the Orchestre National de Lille. Ya-ou Xie's work includes, among others, the China National Orchestra, the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, and the Orchestre National de Lille. She has won prizes at the Orléans International Piano Competition, the Jaén International Piano Competition, and the Olivier Messiaen Competition, and has received special awards for her interpretation of the works of Franz Liszt, Claude Debussy, and Arnold Schoenberg.
