Three women, three generations from the same place in the Carpathians come together in Thomas Perle's play, which won the Retzhofer Drama Prize in 2019: daughter, mother and grandmother. In different languages and dialects, the text tells of their German-Austrian-Hungarian-Romanian biographies and fates, embedded in the political shifts and violent histories of the centuries.

With his concise, precise dialogues, Perle unfolds a large historical arc, from the “crazy” immigration to the region during the 18th century to National Socialism, the fall of Ceaușescu and the longing for a different life in the West. And the mountains and forests also have their say.

The play received a Nestroy Theatre Prize as "Best Play - Author's Prize".
