Contemporary splendour with timeless charm

Before reunification, City West was one of the most important nightlife districts in West Berlin, but after reunification, the former zoo neighbourhood initially lost its appeal. Nowadays, however, you can spend the evening here in modern bars and lounges. The Monkey Bar in Bikini Berlin offers a breathtaking view over the zoo and Tiergarten. And the Zoo Palast right next door is certainly one of the most beautiful traditional cinemas in the whole of Berlin.

Numerous hotel bars such as the Lang Bar, one of the best cocktail bars in the city, or the House of Gin with its more than 150 varieties of gin invite you to enjoy very special and unforgettable evenings in the capital.

Scenic squares & culinary journeys

The nightlife around Savignyplatz in Charlottenburg is in no way inferior to Berlin's famous nightlife districts. Old-established Berliners have always turned night into day here together with students, artists and visitors. The Schwarze Café, for example, is open around the clock. A visit to the Dicken Wirtin, a real cult pub in West Berlin, will take you back to the time before reunification. And the Diener is an artists' café whose atmosphere will have you under its spell in no time. You will also be served hearty Berlin cuisine. If you're really hungry, there's no way around the 12 Apostel restaurant with its pizzas the size of wagon wheels.

Along Kantstraße you will find restaurants in every price category where you can eat your way around the world.

As a little tip, we also recommend the restaurants and cafés on Ludwigkirchplatz. The square around the church of St. Ludwig is particularly enticing on warm summer evenings with its cosy atmosphere, Mediterranean food and good wine.

And with the A-Trane, Badensche Hof, The Hat Bar and Quasimodo, jazz fans will also get their money's worth in City West.

What is the best way to get to City West?

You can get to City West by S-Bahn (S5, S7, S75) and U1 and U9 to Zoologischer Garten. Bus lines 100 and 200 also stop at Zoologischer Garten, but you can also take the U1 or U9 to Kurfürstendamm. At night, the night bus lines N1, N2, N3 and N9 stop at Kurfürstendamm.

And finally, just one more thing:

Berlin loves lively nights – music, laughter and good times belong here. But even this vibrant city needs its rest. That's why we ask you: Please be mindful of the neighbours and lower the volume from 10 pm – so Berlin stays enjoyable for everyone.
